On 2, July, 2019, my world came crashing down on me. The woman who had been the foundation of my life, my grandmother, died. After her death, I realized that her knowledge and teachings, while passed on to me in the subliminal form, should be used.
Grief is a funny thing, isn’t it? Just when you think you’re “over it”, another wave hits you--as such, I soon realized that the life she’d lived, should be honored and upheld. It took a bit of time, but after a deep dig into my inner self, I found the strength and courage to write.
I’m an avid reader normally, so, one would think that writing a book would be a breeze? They’re absolutely wrong--whomever said it, anyway. I began this journey with one sentence, and a glimmer of hope. That hope turned into a bit of courage. That courage turned into a bit of confidence. That confidence turned into my first 75,000 word novel--and MANY late, late nights of writing. My editor, bless her, was an angel, and completely took care of my first-born. I’ll forever be most grateful for her teaching and assistance.
I was told by my editor, actually, that every writer began just where I stand today--writing their first book. Out of the thousands of books I've read over my lifetime, each and every author began from step one.
This love of reading began as a child, as my parents would read to me at night. Additionally, my third grade teacher gifted me something that I will never forget: gumption. Incidentally, moving my desk to the front didn’t deter me from talking...She taught me, during my transition from a new school, that everything truly will be fine, and, you will succeed. She always has been a driving force, along with my family, in my success, both professionally and personally.
So, having finished my first book, I am in the process of writing my second. With my favorite genre being a thriller/mystery, that’s what I naturally gravitated towards; nevertheless, my third book, which is in the active stages of organization and planning, ventures WAY beyond my comfort zone and focuses on raw emotion. I am terrified to write the third book, but know that it will, hopefully, be an amazing piece.
I look forward to reading reviews on my books! Please leave comments-good or bad. It takes every form to create a humble artist. Please like and share my page, and, should you feel the need, send me suggestions for future topics!
People have asked me what or who inspired me to start writing. Well, it’s rather complex as I don't have a definitive answer. My grandmother has been the inspiration for everything I do... my third-grade teacher inspired me to write and develop my love of reading through the years... and, of course, my parents who have encouraged me throughout. I don’t truly have a direct answer, only that I have had inspiration from many people in my life.
Apart from you generously purchasing my books, I would encourage each of you to engage in social media platforms and tell the world about your favorite new author! And... share your love of reading with the world. Who knows, you might inspire someone else to pick up a book and create a new bookworm! As a fellow reader, I would love for you to join me on my journey. Do you have an idea about a new novel? If so, send it over and who knows, I might decide to whip up a best seller with your stellar idea! Don't forget to sign-up to my readers' list on the Homepage.
